331- election fallout

well, we got ripped apart in the papers, but that was expected. the other bad new is the forrest lost and now we are stuck in another four years of higher taxes and bloated government. good luck to all. in good news, at least i got my picture in the RedEye. now if i can make my way into 17 more chicago publications, i can break conlu's record!

332-election day

the day begins at 5:45 am and the phones don't stop ringing until 8:20 pm (and the only reason they stop ringing then is because they yank them out of the wall at that time). i predicted a disaster and we pretty much got it. on the surface, the new equipment worked pretty well. the main problem was that no one knew how to use it. staff at the polling place were severly under trained and confusion reigned the day. we stayed in the office until 4am when we finally postponed counting all the votes until tomorrow.

333- politically incorrect

i've never been one to be overly concerned with my political correctness. today, my inexperienced showed. a temp at work asked me to describe someone. i said she was an african-american woman. now, since i never use that phase (i usually just say 'black') it didn't come out right and the man, being african-american himself said " she's half-american?!?!" i felt so awkward, now this guy probably thinks i think african-americans are only half american...oops! not to worry, we did end up having a nice conversation about cornbread.

334 - living in filth

over the past month, work has been pretty much non-stop. luckily, i have had missy around to make sure the apartment stays clean and tidy. the same can not be said of my fish. the poor little guys have been swimming around in there food and waste for some time now with only the occasional addition of fresh water. today i took the time to clean their home. i replaced all the filters, changed the water and cleaned the glass. i even ordered a couple new powerheads to get a little more water movement. hopefully, this will keep them happy for another couple weeks.

335 - end of the line

well, iu took it on the chin tonight (or moustache as it may be) when they got beat tonight by the bulldogs of gonzaga even though adam morrison only had 14 points. this means mike davis's tenure is finally over. davis did bring a little more athletic style to the b-ball program, but plain and simple he just isn't that good of a coach. i just hope whoever comes in will be able to recruit guys from all over the country rather than just georgia and alabama. here's to rebuilding!!!

336- st. stood up

even though chicago celebrated last weekend, today is really st. patrick's day. all week i was told i needed to be ready to go out after work on friday. so, i called paul, the organizer, to find out where and when we were going. they weren't sure. i called later and this time talked to kelley who said they would call when they were leaving. well, i waited around and after a half hour decided i would rather watch the tournament games than try to hunt them down.
